I earned a MA in Digital Storytelling from Ball State University in 2007.

Here are some of the highlights of my academic work, which was completed on a part-time basis while worked at The Star Press.

Thesis/Creative Project
"Confessions of a Change Maverick: A Journalist Documents a Newspaper's Evolution Through New Media" was my capstone creative project. It was a blog and Web site that documented the efforts of the local newspaper to embrace new media. The blog was created in WordPress.

Cultural Immersion
The Small Towns of Australia: I traveled to the eastern coast of Australia in May 2005 for a cultural immersion experience. I blogged and photographed the small towns of Australia of Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane. I also guest lectured at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Interactive CD-ROM
Nuclear Nevada: This project was a Flash-based Web presentation on nuclear testing in Nevada. I created a visual guide to atomic ground zero. The story of nuclear testing was told through animated Flash graphics, photos, historical video footage and text. The project was planned and developed in Spring 2004. In Fall 2005, I completed a pathfinder project. I designed the graphics and interface in Macromedia Freehand and imported into Flash.

Research
Social networking was My research methods project was an autoethnographic work on the moderation of the local newspaper forums.

Production
Fellow Digital Storytelling student Loyal Vandenburg and I spent a semester documenting the adventures of Muncie's local ghost hunting group. The documentary explored the activities and beliefs of the group.
